How To Keep The House Clean And Still Like Each Other. A low conflict chore management system
Whether it's feeding the family pets, setting the dinner table, vacuuming the carpet, or any number of similar tasks, chores can help teach your child responsibility. Children who are positively and successfully involved in the day-to-day life of a family feel they are an actual part of what makes that family successful. Nevertheless, performing home chores is one of the top three sources of conflict between parents and children.
This class teaches a simple, index-card based system to keep track of and fairly distribute household responsibilities while minimizing conflict associated with these tasks. Maintaining the system requires virtually no day-to-day decision-making by parents. As an added bonus, the system builds self-esteem and facilitates family unity as each person experiences him/herself as a contributing member of the home.
Choose your own chores
Choose your own rewards for successfully completing chores
Choose your own consequences for leaving chores undone.
Classes consist of two group sessions to teach the system and debrief its implementation. After the system has been in use for at least two weeks, Dr. Ward consults individually with each class member for problem-solving and customizing the system.
Class sizes are limited to provide personalized attention in customizing the system to your family's needs.
